INSPIRE Project: Key Milestones and Exciting Updates You Can’t Afford to Miss!
Since the launch of the Integrated and Sustainable Production for Inclusive and Resilient Economies (INSPIRE) project on December 13th in Dokolo District, significant progress has been made in its implementation under Pathway 1, which focuses on “Inclusive household and community decision-making and action,” including collaboration, decision-making, and social cohesion.
Under this pathway, FINASP has worked with communities in the three target districts of Dokolo, Alebtong and Lira to identify key social, economic, and environmental challenges. Among the social challenges raised were poor road networks, lack of clean water, and inadequate medical facilities. Economically, community members highlighted issues such as limited market access for produce, price fluctuations, and rising costs of seedlings. The communities also proposed potential solutions to these challenges.

A major milestone was the creation of sketch maps, which visually represented the challenges by location and identified environmental degradation hotspots. To further the initiative, a 15-member Community Vision Committee (CVC) was elected by community members. This committee developed future plans for their communities, outlining their vision for positive change.
Additionally, 30 individuals from the community were selected as PIP Innovators (PIs). These PIs will undergo training and mentorship to equip them with the skills needed to train and support other community members in sustainable development initiatives.
The INSPIRE project continues to empower rural communities, fostering resilience and inclusivity in economic development across the Lango sub-region.
