The recent UFAAS field visits to farmer households in Agweng and Agali Peer Learning Teams showcased remarkable progress in agroecological practices championed under FINASPâs community empowerment initiatives. The visits focused on how farmers are embracing agro-ecological innovations such as Black Soldier Flies (BSF), Mucuna cover cropping, kitchen gardening, and improved household planning.
During the visit to Agweng, farmers proudly demonstrated their practical work, including BSF production, which is now providing affordable, nutritious feed for poultry and fish. Several farmers explained how they have integrated lessons from the project into their own three-year family development plans, illustrating a strong commitment to long-term resilience and sustainable growth.
The Agali Peer Learning Team also hosted the UFAAS delegation, where farmers showcased how they have transformed training content and agroecology videos into real-life practices at household level. The learning exchange was inspiring, bridging knowledge with hands-on application and strengthening the agroecological mindset within the community.
The team later visited the FINASP Technology Centre, where they interacted with innovative setups and ongoing demonstrations. This enriched their understanding of technology-supported farming and deepened the link between field experiences and organized learning.
Overall, the visit was both insightful and motivating, reflecting how farmers are continuously adopting and scaling innovations that support sustainable livelihoods, improved food systems, and household resilience.
